Ninite was one of the first websites to make the installation of free software easy.
You go to the page, check the applications you want and it creates an installer app, it will then install all of the applications using the most common settings, and avoiding the send me spam settings many installers have.
Bonus, keep the installer. You can run the installer at any time, and it will go through and update any of the needed applications and skip the ones that are up to date.
